Fauquier Habitat for Humanity

Since 1991, we have built and/or rehabbed 50 homes, and have embarked on our most ambitious project yet – construction of a seven-duplex subdivision at Sterling Court, just off Academy Hill Drive in Warrenton. In May 2010, we completed the first duplex. During 2011, two more duplexes were completed giving four Fauquier Habitat families the opportunity to purchase a decent, affordable home. In 2013 we finished the fourth duplex and started the fifth.

Together, we are changing lives. Local families become tax payers, rather than tax receivers. With safe, decent and stable homes, their children are more likely to be successful in school, and in life. Blighted housing is eliminated, improving the community for all. And as our dedicated volunteers will tell you, working with Fauquier Habitat transforms their lives, as well! The joys of making a real difference, learning new skills, and being part of a true community are priceless. Fauquier HFH works in partnership with the community and people in need to build and renovate homes to provide simple, decent, affordable housing.

Habitat is a “hand-up” not a handout. Fauquier Habitat sells the homes to families at cost with no-interest mortgages to keep the monthly payments affordable for the homeowner. Those mortgage payments go back into a revolving fund for Fauquier Habitat that is used to build more houses. Our dedicated volunteers contribute their labor to reduce the cost to build. National sponsors and local businesses provide generous support, as well. Our partner families invest hundreds of hours of labor known as “sweat equity” into building their homes and the homes of others.
