Fellowship Jonesboro

At Fellowship Bible Church, God is bringing together a group of people who have been transformed by the love of Jesus Christ and who have an increasing passion to be the church and love the city of Jonesboro. We believe our call is to pioneer Spirit-empowered, grace-oriented mission to a context where this is largely unknown.

Jonesboro is a beautiful and a broken place. It is an aesthetically beautiful city with the fingerprints of God everywhere. Jonesboro is the most culturally influential and yet family-friendly city in Northeast Arkansas. It has seen much growth over the last decade through the revitalization of downtown, a thriving local economy, and the increasing influence and success of Arkansas State University. But it is also a very broken place. Self-proclaimed as the “City of Churches”, Jonesboro is a city that is fractured by denominationalism and has been deeply burned by man-centered religion. It still bears the scars of racism and segregation, and as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said, “...the most segregated hour of Christian America is eleven o'clock on Sunday morning.” To complicate matters further, the most powerful message in the universe, the Gospel of Jesus Christ, is largely assumed and ignored by Christians and non-Christians alike rather than experienced and treasured.

Because we live in a fallen world, we are neither indifferent to the reality of pain and suffering nor are we naive about the extent of change we can see in this present age. So in faith we seek to engage the brokenness of our city, all the while living ultimately for the City whose maker and builder is God (Heb. 11). And we do so in light of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, knowing our labor is not in vain (1 Cor. 15). What Jonesboro needs more than anything is an authentic encounter with Jesus Christ and an unfiltered experience of His grace. This call is our passion and our privilege.
