First Ascent Avondale

First Ascent Climbing & Fitness, a project created and supported by Chicago's climbers, started with one simple mission: to build world-class indoor climbing facilities that serve and grow Chicago's vibrant, passionate climbing community.

The Logan Square/Avondale gym, with easy CTA and expressway access and free parking, features over 25,000 square feet of Walltopia-designed climbing terrain with top rope and lead walls up to 60 feet tall, 5,000 square feet of stand-alone bouldering, and World Cup competition-ready features, including a 15 m IFSC speed wall. Routes and features are friendly for beginners and challenging for experts.

Additional features include a full-body fitness room with cardio machines, free weights, and functional training equipment, a yoga studio, a climbing-specific training room, locker rooms, pro shop, and community spaces.
