More about First Baptist Church, Wheatland, WY

WE BELIEVE. . .

IN THE VERBAL INSPIRATION OF THE SCRIPTURES, both Old and New Testament, Which is the final authority for faith and practice, inerrant in the original writings, infallible and God breathed. (II Timothy 3:26-27; II Peter 1:20-21).

IN THE TRINITY, that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Matthew 3:16-17; Genesis 1:26; John 10:30). Each has the same nature, attributes and perfections.

IN THE VIRGIN BIRTH, that thus Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, and is true God and true man (Matthew 1:18-23; Philippians 2:5-11; John 1:1-3,14).

IN THE PERSON AND WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT, that He convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment; the agent in the regeneration of man; baptizing the believers into the body of Christ, indwelling, sealing them unto the day of redemption; and the Teacher who guides into all truth, obedience, and filling of those who are Christ’s (John 14:16-17; 15:25; 16:7-14; Ephesians 4:30; I Corinthians 3:16; Ephesians 5:18).

IN THE TOTAL DEPRAVITY OF MAN who had been created in the image of God, that he sinned, and so incurred, physical and spiritual death which is separation from God; that all are born with a sinful nature; individually accountable at the age of accountability; that nothing short of the new birth can change that state (Romans 3:23; 5:12; Psalms 53:1-3; Jeremiah 17:9).

IN THE BLOOD ATONEMENT; that Christ died for our sins, as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice; that this salvation offered by God is His free gift of grace alone, that justification is only on the ground of the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, and that He is received by faith as a Personal Savior, and that neither baptism, the Lord’s Supper, nor any other rite, ceremony, or work can avail one whit for the sinner’s salvation. Christ alone saves (Romans 6:23; 3:19-28; Ephesians 2:8-9). We are secure in Christ and kept by Him (I Peter 1:5; John 6:37).

IN THE RESURRECTION of the saved to eternal life and the unsaved to judgment and everlasting punishment (John 5:29; Revelation 20:11-15), that to die is to be present with the Lord, awaiting the first resurrection, when the body, soul, and spirit are united to be forever with the Lord (Philippians 1:23; I Corinthians 15:35-37; John 14:2-3). That Christ arose from the dead, ascended into Heaven, is there our High Priest, Advocate and the coming King of Kings (I Corinthians 15:1-28; Hebrews 4).

IN THE SECOND COMING; that the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ is a personal, premillennial, imminent, bodily return. Our “blessed hope” for which we constantly look and anticipate, Christ’s pretribulational return for all believers (Acts 1:11; I Thessalonians 4:16-17).

IN THE CHURCH: as God’s program for this age; that the true New Testament Church is an organized body of baptized believers practicing Scriptural ordinances: 1) Baptism by immersion, 2) Observance of the Lord’s Supper, and actively engaged in fulfilling the Great Commission; and that the continued establishment of local churches is clearly taught in the Word (Acts 2:41-47; Matthew 28:19-20; Hebrews 10:25).

IN THE SEPARATION OF THE BELIEVERS from all worldly and sinful practices unto the Lord for joyful service (I John 2:15; II Corinthians 6:17; Romans 6:13).

IN OUR OBLIGATIONS to witness in word, actions, deed to those truths and to proclaim the Gospel to all the world (Acts 1:8), to seek after constant victory and cleansing in our daily life (I John 1:9; 5:1-4); to follow the Lord in Baptism as an evidence of a previously experienced regeneration within and a testimony unto those without, as contingent upon membership, by the mode of immersion (Acts 2:41; Romans 6:1-5; Acts 8); and to seek to keep in remembrance the Lord’s Supper, to be partaken by obedient Christians of like faith, thus honoring Christ (I Corinthians 11).
