First Concord Baptist Church was established on May 24,1845 by Margaret Houston (Wife of Sam Houston) and Nancy Lea (Mother of Margaret Lea). A large log cabin was constructed in 1845 and was the first church building. In 1870 the log building was replaced with a more modern building. This building burned down in 1938. Shortly after the second church building burned, the erection of the third building began. The first service in the new building was held on April 16,1939. There have been many preachers that have stood behind the pulpit at First Concord. There have been thousands of members who have walked through the doors of First Concord. Many have contributed to what the church is now by faith and hard work. First Concord has stood through the test of time, overcoming hard times and prospering in blessed times. Through it all, First Concord should be remembered as a beacon of hope for all of Gods children and Lord willing continue to do so for many years too come.
