First Fruit Ministries is the evolution of First Fruit Mime and Drama Ministry. Its current form and mission were developed in 1998 after ten years in operation, when founder Rick Stoker began street outreach to homeless runaway children. This led to caring for women working in Wilmington's sex industry, who were often connected with street children, and to bringing meals and supplies to those living under the downtown bridges. First Fruit Ministries serves people in need through our residential programs involving mentorship and through outreach. We have transitional housing for homeless women and families, Wilmington Dream Center: Transitional Housing. We have a food pantry that serves the elderly and hungry. A mobile street outreach that serves hot meals to people living in the woods and under bridges, provides clothing a connects people to supportive services. An Urban ministry Training program trains interns, volunteers, and community members to serve the homeless and those in need at our ministry. We have grown to serve yearly over 20,000 hot meals, provide emergency groceries to over 5,000 households, and shelter 24 homeless people.
