More about First Street Gallery Art Center

Mission

First Street Gallery Art Center is founded on the proposition that human potential for creativity and artistic expression is not limited by physical or intellectual challenges. Through cultivation of artistic expression, people with significant challenges can develop creatively and make important contributions to the cultural and economic life of their communities.

Art Center

First Street Gallery Art Center provides its clients with professional art training and exhibition resources. In the Center’s studio, artists create original works of art in a range of media including: painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture and collage. First Street Gallery’s staff is made up of professional artists who help facilitate these projects and provide guidance when needed.
In addition to our studio-based endeavors, First Street Gallery also provides vital training for individuals to fully participate in their community through volunteering and other off-site opportunities.

Gallery

First Street Gallery operates a professional exhibition space where every studio artist has an opportunity to display and sell his/her work. The gallery hosts five shows annually, which feature the work our clients make in the studio as well as collaborative guest artist and community-based projects.
First Street Gallery artists also participate in many off-site exhibitions, both nationally and internationally. In addition to our goal of achieving as much exposure and recognition as possible for our artists’ work, we also strive to assist our clients in promoting and advocating for their own professional art careers. First Street Gallery artists have exhibited at such venues as the Smithsonian Institution and Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Berkeley Art Museum and ACME Gallery Los Angeles, totaling 237 exhibitions in 51 cities across the United States and abroad since 1989. Artists earn a 60% commission on art sales.
