Hollis Q Lathem Reservoir was created by impounding Yellow Creek by the Cherokee County Water & Sewer Authority to augment the fresh drinking water needs of the citizens of Cherokee County. Construction on the project started in 1997 and filling of the reservoir began in 1999. The lake is not known for large fish but is respected for holding large numbers of fish increasing the anglers odds of catching. The lake is 334 Acres, has 15 miles of shoreline and an average depth of 35 feet. The deepest point is 102 feet. Only small water craft are allowed on this lake, canoes, kayaks, sail boats, etc... electric motors only (no gasoline motors). No swimming is allowed. $5.00 parking fee.
