More about Five Star Family Farm

We have a natural farm on 1 fenced acre. Our growing season is from May-Sept ( but depends on the season) We grow mainly vegetables, herbs and a few berries. We will be delivering to Hayden/Cda area once a week and also a farm pick up once a week. Here is some information on the contents of the baskets. We have 3 sizes Personal ($15), Standard ($25) and family ($30). Contents of our baskets within the spring/summer/fall season will include these veggies at one point in the season. But the basic salad blends will be in most of the baskets. Here is a list of the veggies that will be grown throughout the seasons.
Basil, beets, bok cho, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celeriac, chard, chives, cilantro, cucumbers, eggplant, green beans, kale, leeks, onions, oregano, melons, peas, peppers, potatoes, radish, salad greens, spinach, strawberries, squash, tomato, tomatillos, and zucchini/summer squash. We will always be trying new things each year Remember this is what we plant. Things happen so some things don’t survive.
A very common question is what and how much will be in each week’s basket. This is a very hard question to explain because it varies week to week….example would be lettuce and potatoes in weight. So I am going to do my best at helping you understand what will be in your delivery each week.
A standard basket is designed to meet the fresh vegetable needs of 2 – 3 non-vegetarian adults or 1-2 vegetarian adults. As you would think the personal will be smaller and the family will be larger. Depending on the season, the contents will vary between 4 and 18 pounds of vegetables every drop off (11 pounds average). You should be expect about 6-12 different items in the basket per week. But just a reminder that the spring baskets are a bit lighter (in weight and variety) but it well makes up for it in the summer and fall. We will have a few strawberries in the baskets during their season and hope to have enough for you pick for our customers. We will also be adding a recipe or two to each basket using a veggie that is in it for that week.
Hope this helps and answers all your questions. But if it doesn’t please let us know.
