More about Floyd County Economic Development Authority

The Floyd County Economic Development Authority (EDA) is comprised of 7 community volunteers. Floyd County's Community and Economic Development Director serves as staff to the EDA. Together they work to find solutions to improve the local economy by offering programs that support existing businesses, start-up businesses and by attracting new "right-fit" businesses to the community. The board strives to support businesses that continue the traditional and unique aspects of the community but also move forward in a progressive nature.

The Economic Development Authority owns an existing 50,000 square foot industrial building and the Floyd Regional Commerce Center with available lots for businesses needing to create their own space. The EDA is constructing a 13,000 square foot Floyd Innovation Center with flex space for technology and innovation businesses including Research & Development.

Training programs, business planning referrals, and marketing referals are provided for entrepreneurs, business owners and managers.

For start-ups and very small businesses, the Floyd 5 and 10 Small Business Loan Program provides low-interest rate loans.

Innovation-oriented companies in Floyd County may be eligible for Tobacco Commission R&D grant dollars.

Companies contemplating making at least $1 million in capital investment and hiring at least 15 people may be eligible for additional assistance.

For more information on any of these programs, contact Lydeana Martin at lmartin@floydcova.org.
