Foam and Fabric Outlet of Fletcher is still in business after 38 years and will continue to serve the community for many years to come. The business is a family owned company by Allen Gurley.

The Gurley family has been in the fabric business since 1965. In 1972, Allen Gurley started working for his uncle, Bobby Gurley, in Asheville, NC. In 1976, Allen purchased the Fletcher store.

The business was started in a small concrete building with only one table of drapery, one table of upholstery, a small selection of goods, and foam. Threads were 19¢ a spool, buttons were 2¢ each and patterns were 75¢ each. Allen later added two more rooms to the building. In 1986, Allen opened another location in Swannanoa, NC called Carolina Fabric Outlets. As business continued to grow, Carolina Fabric moved its location to Black Mountain, NC, where they are still open for business.

In 1992, Allen bought the property at 3049 Hendersonville Hwy, in Fletcher, and built the building we are currently located in.

For the past thirty 38 years, Allen has been an integral part of the Fletcher community. He has offered his employees many benefits that would not normally be offered by other small business owners. His appreciation of his employees is evident in the amount of long-term dedication they have given him. Store manager Nancy Stevens has been with Allen for 37 years. Assistant manager, Janey Long, has worked for him for 18 years. Warehouse operator, Kenny Israel, has been employed for 30 years. There are several other employees of the store who have dedicated years of employment from 2 to 23 years of service.

We offer a variety of fabrics by the pound. This includes comforters, finished and unfinished items such as lace, curtains, pillows, and a number of other home décor items. We sell upholstery, drapery, quilted fabric, and automobile fabric as well.

We offer a large selection of foam and will cut foam to size for your specific needs. Other types of foam we offer include memory foam, close-cell foam, pillows, and rubber matting for floors.

We are located at 3049 Hendersonville Hwy in Fletcher, NC. Our hours of operation are 9:00 am - 5:30pm Monday through Friday and 9:00am - 5:00pm on Saturday. We accept all major credit cards including Visa, Master Card, Discover, and American Express.
