F.O.L.K.S. (Friends Of Lime Kiln Society)

Lime Kiln Point State Park is a key location for public education and promotion of protection of the Southern Resident Killer Whales on many levels as well as a microcosm model of the Salish Sea ecosystem. The frequent and regular sightings of orca whales from this unobtrusive land-based viewpoint, is inspiring to many park visitors. Close contact with the whales provokes people to change the way they live in the environment in deference to these magnificent but threatened creatures. Over 300,000 visitors from 40+ countries converge in the park each year to view and learn about the SRKW. It is clearly a critical education habitat that must be protected as passionately as the whales themselves. That is what FOLKS is all about.
