With an opportunity to leave corporate life and pursue his passion for food, Tony Crump knew what he believed the Phoenix area was missing in a restaurant choice – the ability to get a really good sandwich, moderately priced, served quickly enough to accommodate the work-lunch timeframe or a busy family's dinner schedule.

Developing The Concept…
For over two years prior to opening, the Crump family home became an experimental kitchen. Family and friends, test subjects. From the amazing roll to the fry sauce to the irresistible chocolate chip cookie, every item on Forefathers' menu has a story.

The theme of Philly cheesesteaks was chosen because they are just so darn tasty when done right and it was nearly impossible to get an authentic cheesesteak anywhere on the West coast. The restaurant name, Forefathers, was chosen as a way to pay homage to the founding fathers of our country and the "founding fathers" of the Philly cheesesteak. The restaurant was designed to portray the look and feel of a professional chain concept with unique family touches, including a hallway that honors people who have given their lives as the ultimate sacrifice.
