Forward Stride

For nearly 15 years, Forward Stride has been empowering people from across the Portland Metro region to improve their lives through equine-assisted activities and therapies.

Our Inclusive Riding Program helps children and adults of all abilities develop horsemanship skills, fitness, and self-confidence.

Our Rehabilitation Services Program offers people of all ages treatment sessions with licensed physical, speech, and occupational therapists.

Each week, our Volunteer Program provides 150 community members with engaging ways to care for 25 horses; assist clients during their therapy sessions; maintain our facilities; and much more. In addition to facilitating our programs, many of our volunteers are addressing their own mental health needs through their service to others.

Our Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy offers one-on-one mental health therapy sessions with a licensed clinician to address specific needs in an alternate environment to an office setting.

Our Equine Facilitated Learning program, which overlaps with our Psychotherapy Program, offers non-riding based experiences focused on developing life skills for youth and adults with social, emotional, or developmental challenges.
