Our school offers continuous training to ensure that our staff receives the most recent information available in early childhood education. In addition, each staff member is trained and certified in CPR and first aid.



Infant Care (6 weeks to 18 months)

At Fred Moore Day Nursery School, our Infant Care teachers strive to create a loving, home-like environment and spend quality time with the infants. Active play and development of motor skills is encouraged for those infants that are ready. We understand that the cognitive development of infants requires utilizing a number of sensory methods to include sight, sound and tactile awareness.


Toddlers – 2 Year Olds (18 to 36 months or earlier if potty trained)

Our 2-year old classroom is full of activity! At Fred Moore Day Nursery, we believe that children are active learners so our teachers work to create engaging lesson plans. We encourage participation and focus on developing skills. In this classroom the skill level varies greatly so our teachers spend one-on-one time with each child and focus on specific needs.

Toddlers – 3 Year Olds (36 to 48 months)

Our 3-year old classroom is full of activity with a bit more structure. In this classroom, our teachers strive to create the skills needed for lifelong learning. Children are allowed the freedom to actively learn and are provided with an engaging environment. Lesson plans are created with a focus on continued development of still emerging skills


Pre-K – 4 Year Olds

At Fred Moore Day Nursery School, our Pre-K class is designed to prepare our 4 years olds for kindergarten. It is our goal to teach them the skills needed to be highly successful in kindergarten and beyond. Our teachers work to create lesson plans that encourage more individual work so that assessments can be completed. Our Pre-K teachers are trained to complete formal assessments at this age level so that parents can be informed of strengths and weaknesses. We implement more rules and rewards in our Pre-K class to prepare the children for the structure of the kindergarten classroom.


Funding

United Way of Denton County

The school has enjoyed a long-standing relationship as a Partner Agency of the United Way of Denton County. We execute a contract on an annual basis and meet all accountability requirements. This includes record maintenance, financial reporting, site inspections, and annual allocation processing.

City of Denton, Department of Human Services

In addition to being a United Way organization, Fred Moore Day Nursery School has been awarded budget support by the City of Denton for a number of years. FMDNS applies annually for funding through the Human Services Advisory Committee that makes recommendations to the City Council for final approval. The application process is rigorous and requires a review by city staff and a panel of citizens before final consideration by the City Council. The city funding comes from both federal funds and local tax dollars.

Whats on the Menu?

Three nutritious meals are served to children daily. We measure our nutritious meal service based on guidelines provided by the Federal Food Program. The Food Program requires strict adherence to meeting nutritional goals for all food groups and appropriate portion sizes.
