Fredericksburg Jaycees

The following is a list of things the Fredericksburg Jaycees have done to help the continued growth of Fredericksburg. Most of these date back to before some of the city leaders were even residents of this great community we all love so much.

* Donated the original Christmas lights to the City of Fredericksburg.

* Helped push the bond election that built the city swimming pool.

* Helped fund the building of the old travel park and swimming pool that was located on Dr. Feller's land on Goehmann Lane.

* Sponsered Santa Clause Day since the 1940's.

* Helped coordinate the sale of Oak Crest Park from the county to the City of Fredericksburg. (present day Lady Bird Park).

* Helped push the bond election to build the first 9 hole golf course at Lady Bird Park and also helped push to expand the same course to an 18 hole course.

* Helped in getting the city to start commercial garbage pick up.

* Helped the city build the RL Frantzen Park, supplying picinic tables and a swing set for the first park in the city limits of Fredericksburg.

* Helped in getting the first travel guide to Fredericksburg printed for the city in the late 1950's through the early 1960's.

* Helped getting the Easter Fires Pageant started up.

* The history of the Fredericksburg Jaycees is rich in working with the City of Fredericksburg since the clubs founding in April of 1940. Producing many civic and business leaders in the community.
