More about Freedom Ride

Jesus said, "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." He wasn’t only speaking of eternal life and the blessings that follow this life here on earth. He was speaking of a full life, found in Him, available right here and now. Through Jesus, we have the opportunity to experience freedom—freedom to become all that God originally intended for us to be.

That’s what the Freedom Ride is all about.

540 Miles - 7 Days
Shenandoah Valley, VA - Zarephath, NJ

The Freedom Ride team welcomes experienced cyclists (or volunteer support personnel) to participate in this year's ministry event. 100% of the proceeds benefit the Po River Medical Clinic, Liberia and the Zarephath Health Center in New Jersey.

This is a ~540 mile road cycling ride, with ~25,000 vertical feet of climbing and dedicated SAG support.

* Liberia is a country, in West Africa, that has been devastated from 14 years of civil war. The aftermath has left the Liberian nation without access to electricity, clean water, roads, and medical clinics. There are only 22 doctors in the entire nation to serve the population of over 3.9 million, leaving hundreds of thousands of people without access to medical care; Po River being just one of those areas.

Po River lies along the Atlantic Coast, about 7 miles south of the Cestos River. The Cestos River cuts off Po River, and the surrounding areas, from access to the main road, which runs from River Cess to Monrovia, the nation’s capital, 140 miles north. The only way to access the road, from Po River is by fanti boat or by foot. The closest medical clinic is located north of River Cess -not a easy trip for anyone to make, even when they’re not sick.

A clinic in Po River would not just mean medical care for those who live in the Po River Village, but for many of the villages in the surrounding areas as well. This clinic will give access to life-saving treatments for diseases such as Malaria that plague many of the people living in this region. This clinic will be the start of a multi-year project to rebuild the infrastructure of this valuable missions site, which before the Civil War served the medical, education and spititual needs of many villages surrounding the Po River area.

If you have a heart for the sick and the poor in countries like Liberia, and a desire to effect change on the futures of these people, please support our cause by visiting our website and making a donation today!
