Friends of Bethel Church

What began in April 1949 as a Tent Revival on Lilac St quickly turned into the Bethel Mission sponsored by Peniel Church and the first property was purchased. By July of 1950, Bethel Baptist Church was organized and began growing in the service of the Lord. The Church expanded in 1956, building the auditorium on Lilac Street and later purchasing the Washington Street property in 1961. On Easter Sunday in 1963 Bethel Baptist held an open house and dedication of the Auditorium on Washington Street.

Bethel Baptist Child Care was instituted in 1969. As the church continued to grow, so did the need for space. The property behind the church was purchased in 1979. Bethel Baptist Church adopted their first church constitution and by-laws in 1984. They voted to build a multi-purpose building in 1987 and it was completed and dedicated on May 15, 1988.

The Church has gone through many renovations over the years: In May 1995 completing work on the Church offices, classrooms and sanctuary, in 2005 adding a new choir room, and in 2010 adding new offices. 2011-2013 brought continued upgrades and changes, purchasing a new sound system, building of a new sound room, an updated worship center, welcome area and education wing. This year new restrooms were built.

Just as the church began 64 years ago with a revival, so it will be renewed by a revival almost 65 years later. Join us for this New Beginning...our Grand Re-Launch on January 26, 2014!
