More about Friends of Ebey's

The Friends of Ebey’s Landing National Historical Reserve works in cooperation with the Reserve’s Trust Board and National Park Service to fund projects and programs that protect, preserve, and enhance the cultural and natural resources and the visitor experience of Ebey’s Landing National Historical Reserve. This includes fundraising, public outreach and educational activities and building public awareness of the Reserve. The Friends of Ebey’s is the fundraising arm of Ebey’s Landing National Historical Reserve.

After a group of concerned citizens challenged a proposed development of Ebey's Prairie, Ebey’s Landing National Historical Reserve was created by Congress in 1978 to “preserve and protect a rural community which provides an unbroken historical record from… 19th century exploration and settlement in the Puget Sound to the present time.” Within the Reserve’s 17,000+ acres (the majority of which is privately owned), you’ll also find the historic seaside Town of Coupeville, three Washington State Parks, stunning landscapes and shorelines, hiking trails, and an awe inspiring agricultural landscape – many families have been farming the same land since the 1800’s.

The Reserve is uniquely made up of an extended community and partnerships (including the Town of Coupeville, Island County, Washington State Parks and the National Park Service). You are part of that community. Friends of Ebey's raises funds to support the Trust Board's preservation and programming throughout the Reserve, ensuring the timeless quality of the Reserve remains for generations to come. It’s easy to understand why Friends of Ebey’s and our supporters endeavor to help preserve this unique cultural landscape.
