Friends of Filbert Playlot Park

Filbert Playlot Park is the closest playground for hundreds of children. The equipment is 25+ years old, unsafe and doesn't meet today's standards. Numerous families, daycare centers and preschools are forced to drive or take long walks to other parks due to Filbert's poor conditions.

Chicago Park District playground renovations are typically funded through 1/3 Aldermanic, 1/3 Community, and 1/3 Park District donations. The cost to renovate Filbert Playlot Park is estimated to be $300,000 to $350,000. Alderman Schulter has officially committed $100,000 to Filbert; we are very grateful for his support! FRIENDS OF FILBERT PLAYLOT PARK is well on its way to raising the Community portion of the costs. We are also working closely with the Park District and have received very positive feedback from senior officials. We were assigned a project manager who will oversee our renovation and are optimistic that we will secure a spot in the Park District's 2011 Capital Improvement Plan which will be announced shortly.
