Friends of Huddart & Wunderlich Parks

We are a fun and diverse group of enthusiasts who have adopted the theme of Hikes, History and Horses as the driver for the work we do. The Friends organization encourages environmental awareness and promotes educational opportunities for children and adults through community participation in the enjoyment of our parks.

The Friends provide children's hikes in Huddart Park, and at the historic Folger Estate Stable site in Wunderlich Park promotes exhibits, gives guided tours, and assists with school programs.

The Friends of Huddart and Wunderlich Parks organization was founded in 1995 and became a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in 2002. Dedicated to environmental education and land conservation, the early programs of the Friends supported various aspects of park management. In 2008 the Friends raised funds for and directed renovations of the Folger Estate Stable that were completed in 2010. The Folger Estate Historic District includes the main stable, carriage house, blacksmith barn, dairy house and stone walls and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

There are many ways to join the Friends to support our mission. We have ongoing opportunities for volunteers to serve on our board of directors, become a docent at the Carriage House Museum at Folger Estate Stable, lead hikes as part of our Huddart Park Nature Hikes program, or support field trips to the Folger Estate Stable. Tax deductible gifts to the Friends fund our work.
