Friendship Student Ministry

Using LifeWay's KNOWN strategy, it is our desire that all of our students KNOW Jesus, Own their faith, and make their faith KNOWN.

Under KNOWN, we follow a biblical based approach to help students develop like Jesus did as a teenager:

"And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men." Luke 2:52 NKJV

In order for development to be biblical, it must also be relational:

"Jesus said to him, 'You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself." Matthew 22:37-39 NKJV

If students are to grow fully in their relationship with Christ, every aspect of their lives should be tested and evaluated. Jesus' Sermon on the Mount details six of these point, all of which are applicable in student's lives today:

1. Character - Matthew 5:1-12 (The Beatitudes)
2. Influence - Matthew 5:13-20 (Salt and Light)
3. Relationships - Matthew 5:21-48 (Heart condition; love your enemies, etc.)
4. Disciplines - Matthew 6:1-24 (Giving, praying, fasting, true treasure)
5. Lordship - Matthew 6:25-34 (God's sovereignty; "Seek first the kingdom of God")
6. Discernment - Matthew 7:1-27 (The Narrow Gate, False Prophets, The Wise Builder)

When brought together, this approach will help ensure a solid and balanced foundation for each student's walk with Christ, and help them to KNOW Jesus, OWN their faith, and make their faith KNOWN.
