Gahanna Christian Academy is a private school situated in the northeast area of Columbus, Ohio in the suburb of Gahanna, Ohio. Gahanna Christian Academy is chartered by the Ohio Department of Education and is a member of the Association of Christian Schools International.HistoryGahanna Christian Academy began as Evangel Christian Academy in 1980 as an outreach of Evangel Temple Assembly of God Church, now One Church, with sixty-five students. Envisioned by Pastor Gene Speich, a "family life center" that included classrooms was built, initially housing preschool through sixth grade. 7th and 8th grades were added in 1987, and a full high school for grades 9-12 was opened in 1996. In 2006, the GCA International School program began accepting students from around the world.AthleticsGahanna Christian Academy is a member of the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA). In addition, Gahanna Christian Academy continuously participates in the Mid-Ohio Christian Athletic League (OHSAA), which includes: Delaware Christian School, Granville Christian Academy, Madison Christian School, and Tree of Life Christian Schools. GCA also competes with various non-league public and private schools in and around the Central Ohio area. Gahanna Christian Academy participates in the following sports: Co-ed Soccer (grades 7-12), Girls' Volleyball (grades 7-12), Boys' and Girls' Basketball (grades 7-12), Cheerleading (grades 9-12), Boys' Baseball (grades 9-12), Girls' Fast Pitch Softball (grades 9-12), and Co-ed Track and Field (grades 7-12).
