Gardens on Green

As an idea,”Gardens on Green” was planted in 2007. The first of its gardens, the Garden of Winners, was planted in 2008, and six additional gardens have been added since. This continued growth has been nurtured through the generosity of grants, donations, and a volunteer spirit.

A joint project of Hall County Master Gardeners and the Hall County School System, the Gardens have transformed a once unnoticed space into a place for education and enjoyment. The main goal is to provide a place not only for growing plants, but for “growing good kids,” for growing the human spirit, and ultimately for growing a better community.

Scheduled classes and tours for children and adults provide such opportunities, including those for Junior Master Gardeners, Scouts, after-school groups, school classes, and any group requesting a visit.

The Gardens currently include the following:
* Children’s Vegetable Garden
A place for learning to know and grow what we eat.
*A Native Garden – Plants native to North Georgia.
*A Garden of Winners – Award winning plants
*Certified Pollinator Garden – Butterflies, hummingbirds
*Conifer Garden – Display of much diversity
*Deer Resistant Garden – Not deer proof!
*Literacy Garden
A place for young children to Read, Discover, and Grow.
