More about Gellman Family Therapy Associates

Specializing in Anxiety Disorders, Stress Management, Relationship Distress, Infidelity, Sex Therapy, Sexuality, Young Couples, Depression, Child Behavior Concerns, Chronic Illness, Grief and Loss, Family Conflict, and Lifecycle Transitions.

Trained at the University of Rochester School of Medicine, Kansas State University's School of Family Studies and Human Services, and The University of Chicago School of Medicine, Clinic Founder Rob Gellman has been a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist for 11 years, and was a professor at the Adler School of Psychology from 2008-2011. He is a regularly invited speaker with local mental health agencies and national conferences. While his scholarship has focused largely on families coping with pediatric chronic illness, training therapists and physicians, and alternative spiritualities, Rob's clinical practice remains diverse. Individuals navigating the stress of transitional life events, couples coping with relationship conflict, and folks dealing with grief and loss make up a large portion of Gellman Family Therapy Associates' client population.

Rob Gellman and his colleagues practice from a strength-based, solution-focused, goal-oriented, and highly collaborative model of change. We carefully evaluate our clients goals for change, and facilitate the utilization of our clients' own natural strengths and resilience to effectively and efficiently stimulate the shift to wellness. Couples and Families have the option to request co-therapy, in which a male/female therapy team will work together with you to facilitate change and achieve your goals.

Gellman Family Therapy Associates works directly with Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Illinois PPO. Clients with other PPO health plans are eligable for comparable reimbursement of out of network/out of pocket expenses. Clients with HMO plans can usually receive approximately 50% reimbursement for out of pocket expenses. For HMO or uninsured clients, Gellman Family Therapy Associates offers a sliding fee scale based on income and household configuration. It is rare that we are unable to accomodate any motivated client's financial situation.

Our primary clinic is in the Mt. Greenwood neighborhood, on the city's southwest side (3938 W. 111th St). We are delighted to work with our southside and suburban neighbors in Tinley Park, Beverly, Oak Lawn, Alsip, Crestwood, Cicero, Calumet City, Elburn, Justice, Palos Hills, and beyond. Morning, Afternoon, and Evening hours available for Individual, Couple, and Family Therapy. Affiliated with Little Company of Mary HMO and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois. Opportunities to work with male/female co-therapy teams are available to work with you per request. We are also excited to have added a child behavior specialist to our team of therapists to provide individual evaluations and treatment plans for children under 12 to be treated within the context of their family system. Our clinicians are Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists, or Licensure-eligable Masters Level Marriage and Family Therapists.

We also have occasional availability at our satellite location, conveniently located in the River North neighborhood of Chicago (60611), with ample street parking and easy access to the CTA. Afternoon and evening hours are available, with the latest weekday appointment being 9p.
