More about Georgetown University Student Advocacy Office

In the Fall of 2011, the Georgetown University Student Association expanded its Executive by creating the Student Advocacy Office. The Student Advocacy Office, in an effort to improve the disciplinary process at Georgetown, offers all students free and confidential advising. Any student, whether charged with any violation of the Code of Student Conduct or simply curious about some aspect of students’ rights, can obtain advice and information from highly trained representatives from the Student Advocacy Office.

Besides disciplinary proceedings, the SAO also acts as a resource center for student rights. Both on or off campus, at Georgetown or abroad, Georgetown students have rights, and the Student Advocacy Office is the first place students can go to for information about their rights and whether GUSA, as the elected representative body of students, can play a role in advocating for those rights. As a proactive information outlet and resource center, the SAO is an accessible and regular part of student life with the help of its Student Advocates.

Located in the GUSA office in Sellinger Lounge, Leavey Center, the SAO is open Monday through Friday, 1PM-5PM. Our advocates are always happy to answer any questions about student rights and the judiciary process. Also, we can always help revise and edit any appeal letters. Our office can be contacted by email with any questions or concerns at studentadvocacy.gusa@gmail.com.
