Gesu School is a diverse Catholic elementary school in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Toledo. It is part of Gesu Parish, which is named after the original Church of the Gesù in Rome, which St. Ignatius Loyola began. It was originally founded by Jesuits, but it is now an Oblate parish.Gesu serves students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade, who typically come from Ottawa Hills, Westmoreland, or Old Orchard neighborhoods across from the University of Toledo campus. It is a Roman Catholic school affiliated to the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA). Gesu has 180 days of classes a year, and a typical school day is 6 hours long. The school has 19 classrooms, all with internet access and Smart Boards. Each grade has two classes, with an average of about 25 children each.Mission statement"Gesu is a diocesan Roman Catholic school sponsored by Gesu Parish. The Gesu community is committed to the spiritual, intellectual, physical, and social growth of each student.
