Gill Fire-Rescue

The Gill Fire Department protects a population of 1,500 residents and a coverage area of 15 square miles. Gill is also home to Northfield Mount Hermon, a large private boarding school with 650 students. The Gill Fire Department has 20 members and trains weekly on Thursday nights. We respond to all types of emergencies including hazardous material calls, water rescue calls, and weather related emergencies on top of fire suppression and medical calls. The Gill Fire Department also has an aggressive fire prevention program that ranges from preschool to high school. We visit the schools and classes to present important fire safety lessons that we believe are a large factor in the decrease in fires over the years.
