Good Neighbor Village, Inc.

Good Neighbor Village started in 1987 as the dream of several local families who had children with intellectual disabilities. These parents wanted to create a residential community where their children could thrive with the appropriate support programs. Since then, Good Neighbor Village has grown into a nurturing and supportive community that meets both the physical and intellectual needs of our residents.

We offer full-time residential services to adults over the age of 22 who have been diagnosed with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities. We also provide respite care for temporary residents throughout the year. Respite services may not exceed 21 consecutive days or 90 days total in a calendar year. Located in Henrico County, we are just a short drive away from downtown Richmond, the Medical College of Virginia and the Richmond International Airport. Currently, our facilities include three cottages with the ability to house 20 full-time residents and two temporary residents. Each cottage includes separate bedrooms for the residents, as well as large kitchen and living areas for family-type activities. We encourage our residents to furnish and decorate their rooms in a way that best fits their personalities. We want it to feel like home! If needed, though, we can furnish the room for the resident.

Good Neighbor Village provides social, recreational, spiritual and civic involvement in the community, as well as the appropriate support programs to assist residents in becoming productive and independent members of the community. We are dedicated to providing an environment where residents can thrive and become the best they can be.
