Good Roots Food Bank is a unique nonprofit that assists people by offering them anything from food, to volunteer work, to gardening classes for nearby elementary schools. Our 80 bed all organic garden offers fresh fruits, vegetables, and endless volunteer work. Along with the produce, we are able to offer other items donated from local grocers and distributers such as Bob's Red Mill and Dave's Killer Bread. Every Saturday, individuals and families in need may come through and order off of a menu to receive a box of food. The menu is changed weekly, based off of what the Food Bank receives that week. Once a month, a hot meal is provided to individuals and families in need. Along with the hot meal, there is also an "open closet"; this entails a shed that contains donated clothes that have been washed and folded, for individuals and families to come through and take what they need. Our motto we run by is, "Get what you can, take what you need." Whether that means taking items and not volunteering, or volunteering and taking items, or even volunteering and not taking anything, we want everyone to have a supportive and safe place to turn to when in need of help. It all comes back around, and we want to be the first step of the circle.
