More about Goo's Dojo

Our style is Kempo and Goju. Erron Wright, Sr. began his training in 1972. He started with the study of Goju Ryu style karate. This Okinawan style of karate has direct and effective Karate movements and flowing Kung Fu influences. After attaining 4th Dan Master Wright was invited to train in the style of Kempo Karate. An internationally recognized Kempo master was as strong influence in Master Wright's martial arts career.

Spanning 5 decades Erron Wright, Sr. is now the Supreme Grand Master (10th Degree Blackbelt) of our martial arts system. Goo's Dojo is a 3rd generation studio. Sensei Erron (Goo) Wright, Jr. was awarded the rank of 7th Dan (7th Degree Blackbelt) on 10-1-2011. "Goo" is involved with operations, instruction and management of the studios. "Little Goo" Jackson Wright (Supreme Grand Master's grandson) is a student at Goo's Dojo. Jackson competes in sport karate tournaments.

In the spirit of Bruce Lee we believe in continual improvement and learning. Training at Goo's Dojo includes Okinawan style karate and western boxing. We also recognize the importance of grappling techniques for well rounded knowledge.

Dojos are located in Joplin and Neosho. Goo's Dojo has classes for 8yrs and up. The Goo Pups are ages 4-7. The younger class is an intro to martial arts. Along with traditional martial arts the Pups get to sword fight. In their eye protection with the padded sword the Pups have an Iron Man look.

The study of martial arts is a privilege. Confidence, achievement, discipline, growth, self-defense and fun are what we purvey. Violence is discouraged and will not be tolerated in our system. We give glory to God in all we do. Class always end with the motto, "Go in Peace."
