Established in 1867 (initially as Western Maryland College), McDaniel College has been offering highly regarded graduate-level Education programs since 1935. Located in historic Westminster, MD, the College is located just 22 miles from historic Gettysburg, PA, 30 miles from Baltimore’s Inner Harbor and 60 miles from Washington D.C.
McDaniel attracts a diverse domestic and international graduate student population of over 1,800 students participating in nearly 60 graduate degree, certificate or professional sequence programs. Classes are offered in convenient schedules and flexible formats including: face-to-face, hybrid and online to accommodate the busy schedules of graduate students. Additionally, through partnership with area school districts and learning centers, McDaniel offers a wide variety of its graduate programs off-campus in locations throughout Maryland.
A “teach first” institution that focuses on high levels of student engagement and interaction, McDaniel has been profiled in the book Colleges That Change Lives for the close personal attention that is paid to each individual student.
Over the past year, GPS alums were named: State Superintendent of the Year, Maryland Principal of the Year, Maryland Teacher of the Year, Maryland Counselor of the Year and Sorenson Teacher of The Year.
McDaniel offers graduate degrees, certificates and course sequences in four primary areas: Education and Administration, Counseling and Human Services, Writing as well as, Business and Professional programs.
