Grandfalls, Texas

Grandfalls is a town in Ward County, Texas, United States. It was named for its location near the "grand falls" of the Pecos River, located roughly to the west. Early settlers were attracted to the Grandfalls area in the late 1880s by the steady supply of water flowing in the Pecos River. The racial makeup of the town was 71.10% White, 0.26% African American, 1.28% Native American, 25.32% from other races, and 2.05% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 49.87% of the population.There were 146 households out of which 43.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.4% were married couples living together, 13.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.5% were non-families. 29.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 14.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.68 and the average family size was 3.34.
