Great Bridge Presbyterian Church

GBPC now has a membership of 1,300, three worship services, two Sunday Schools, active youth groups, thriving small groups, a dynamic music ministry, and a bustling Wednesday night program. Of course, the effectiveness of a church cannot be measured by the pastors called, staff hired, buildings built, programs in place or even membership on the books. The effectiveness of a church is measured by the lives that are transformed by the work of the Holy Spirit. To this end, the congregation engaged in the REVEAL Spiritual Life Survey in 2008, which helped us identify that people are at different places on a spiritual continuum, and has enabled us to target our ministries and missions to help people grow as disciples of Jesus Christ.

We have been drawn more and more to connect our community to Christ, as we annually participate in a program to house the homeless, contribute to the food closet, Habitat for Humanity, Our House Families, and Stop Hunger Now. Since 2002, we have sent mission teams to Nicaragua, and have supported the rebuilding efforts from the devastation of Hurricane Katrina with both financial and people resources for five years. Several Living Waters for the World teams have been sent to Nicaragua, Ecuador and Tazwell, TN, to install water purification systems. Our youth go on an annual trip to the Pilgrimage in Washington, DC, and participate throughout the year in making lunches for Union Mission and participating in the 30 hour famine for World Vision.
