We produce four sod varieties. These varieties provide you with a choice that will fit your exact need.

Fescue
This is our most popular grass!

We suggest fescue for homeowners, landscapers, commercial and sports facilities.

Turf-type tall fescue is a cool season grass. The best time to plant fescue is in the fall and early winter. Fescue stays green year-round and needs medium maintenance. This sod needs at least four hours of sun light a day. Fescue has a broader leaf that allows it to absorb more sunlight even in shaded areas. However, it is best if the grass can catch morning or evening light.


Green Prairie Turf, Inc. selects vigorous varieties of grass seed which will survive better than others in your yard. Our fescue is more drought tolerant because it has deeper roots from our Extended Root Technology.

Bluegrass
This is our most beautiful grass!

We recommend this sod for golf courses, parks, roadsides and sports facilities with little shade.

Bluegrass is another cool-season grass. Bluegrass stays green year round and is a medium maintenance sod. It has a dense, beautiful appearance because of its lush dark green color and exceptional leaf uniformity.


Bluegrass has a root system that spreads horizontally. This horizontal root structure inhibits bluegrass from growing deep. This means the grass cannot compete with other plants with larger root systems. This beautiful grass will flourish in open spaces.

Zoysia
This is our hardiest grass!

We recommend this sod for pastures, high shaded areas, and hillsides.

Zoysia grass is a warm-season perennial. It stays green as long as it stays watered, but turns yellow quickly in the fall and winter months. Zoysia is a low-maintenance grass that needs little attention and will survive in drought conditions, in highly shaded areas, and hillsides.

Zoysia has an intricate root system. It spreads out horizontally under the soil and also has "runner" roots that grow deep into the ground allowing the sod to absorb and store water. This is an aggressive breed of grass and will survive in nearly all conditions.

Bentgrass
Our softest grass!

Our 2014 crop is sold out and will not be available again until Summer 2015.

Recommended for golf course greens.
Bentgrass was originally cultivated for use on golf course greens. The main advantage of this grass breed is that bentgrass tolerates extremely close mowing. Bentgrass is a high maintenance sod.

We also have straw available by the bale and a large supply of Turf Type Tall Fescue seed available for quantity purchases.
