Russellville History
In 1812, the American government allotted funds for a route from New Orleans to Nashville. It was called Jackson's Military Road, and it passed through what is now known as Russellville. Major William Russell, an early settler of the area, assisted in the road's construction. As the city developed around that road, it was named after Major Russell. It was incorporated on November 27, 1819.
