It all began in 1976 with an idea: stretch a child’s rapidly developing mind and body, and you begin to prepare that child for life. At Gymboree, we understand that the relationships and experiences children have in the first three years of life have a profound impact on their future. In fact, the brain is most active in the first three years, in which time it will grow to 80% of its adult size. It’s essential that parents and caregivers nurture a child’s development during those pivotal years – and the Gymboree Learning Program can be a critical component of that development.

Gymboree is designed for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Developmentally appropriate activities, songs, and games are designed to give freedom for individual growth and non-competitive activities in all class levels. We focus on the whole child to help children acquire the key ingredients – motors skills, social skills, and self-esteem – they need in order to grow up to be confident, happy, and successful adults.

Gymboree is a program developed by professionals.
Our child-development experts have been helping us build and evolve our program for more than 30 years. Now, we’re working together with Zero to Three, a highly respected non-profit child-development organization, devoted to promoting the healthy development of infants and toddlers. This relationship will ensure that our programs are the best they can be to meet the needs of families today.

Parent participation is essential.
Our core belief is that children develop at their own pace through physical, mental and creative activities with the involvement and support of parents and caregivers. All of our programs continue to incorporate new elements to help parents better understand how their child is developing and give them the tools to support each crucial stage of development. Gymboree is committed to helping parents become the best caregivers they can be.

Gymboree centers offer more than 40 pieces of proprietary equipment. Slides, climbers, bouncers, mats, tunnels, balls, and more fill the room. Each colorful, tyke-sized piece was specially designed to enable children to master their environment and their body movements.
