More about Hallmans Happy Hen Farm

Our eggs are TRULY pasture raised. They happily wander about the yard most days.... when it's not cold, windy and SNOWY (ugh MICHIGAN get your act together LOL) and always have access to their own large outdoor run so they are never STUCK in confined areas against their own will. We Do not use synthetic medications or hormones of any kind. We try to stick to as natural of chicken keeping as possible, for the healthiest and best tasting eggs our chickies are capable of producing. They eat what they find in the yard, (bugs, frogs, small critters) table scraps (we do not feed them anything highly processed in table scraps), and we supplement with medication-free layer feed.
We have a wide range of happy and healthy chicken breeds including Barred Rocks, ISA Browns, white leghorn, buff orpington, easter eggers, gold laced wyandotte, black australorps, and silver duckwing old english bantams. Most lay big brown eggs, but we get the occasional green or white egg,
Next month we will be open for a "help yourself" approach to buying your eggs. Under the honor system, they will be in a fridge on our porch and you will be able to help yourself when our "fresh eggs" sign is lit up! We also know how important it is to teach our children where our food comes from in an age where people are SO disconnected from it's origins, so we are planning on opening up our coop for families to come and meet the chickens and collect their OWN eggs! We also frequently travel down to Lansing and would be happy to bring some eggs down if you live in Lansing and never make it up to St Johns.
Until we officially open, however, we will have eggs for sale as they are available. We sell these for $3 a dozen (you get more than a normal dozen at the grocery store since they tend to be alot larger than the average store bought egg) Comparable eggs at the grocery store sell for $1-$2 more per dozen, and they aren't usually TRULY cage free, or pasture raised, and are still pumped full of medications. We also do a loyalty card system where if you buy 4 dozen eggs, your 5th dozen is FREE! We are also open to bartering.
