Halloween Yacht Club

The Halloween Yacht Club was established on the eve of Halloween in 1926. For over 86 years it has been in the same location, Cummings Park, establishing it as a long standing institution in the City of Stamford.

As the Club has grown and prospered one fundamental fact has remained constant, it is a Club where volunteerism has been at the center of its vitality and success. The Club depends on its members to operate and maintain the facilities. HYC employs one employee, a Club Steward, who lives on the premises. The Steward functions as the Club manager and caretaker.

Over the years, after inheriting a small building in disrepair, the Club facilities now include a Club House with a recently renovated interior, a new deck overlooking the lagoon, floating dock space for 134 boats with running water and electricity, rack space for kayaks, dinghies and board type boats and an enlarged parking area.

HYC has always championed for a healthy environment and pollution-free waterways. Many of the Club members actively campaign for a cleaner environment through volunteer community based organizations such as the Stamford Harbor Management Commission, Sound Waters, Young Mariners Foundation, Save the Sound, the Navy League, the Power Squadron and the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. Throughout our long history the membership has included many who are active in City of Stamford government, distinguished professionals and yachtsmen.
