In 2013, Hammerstone School (then Double Dog Timberworks) started teaching carpentry courses for women. Our classes the first summer were organized around the construction of a Tiny House. As our program grows, we are adding more specialized courses in stick framing, trim carpentry, furniture making, and timber framing. While our main mission is to teach carpentry skills to women, we do offer some co-ed classes with a focus on farming and homesteading carpentry skills.
Located in the heart of the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York, we are attracting students from a wider geographical area to visit our beautiful region, and learn new skills at the same time.
