Hanson’s Auto Service has been in business at the current location of Highway 55 and Main Street in Rockford for over 33 years now. Lanny leased the business in 1980, which used to be a Mobil Gas Station with 2 bays available for service. His son Todd also worked and assisted Lanny in building the business while pumping gas, doing car starting, and towing in his early years.



In 1989 Lanny purchased the business due to added service requests from the local resident clientele. During the year of 1990 they quit selling gas due to the increased service business. This increase in the tire and automobile business led the Hanson’s to add onto the existing building and bring the shop to 5 bays for performing most car and light truck repairs in addition to an office and lunch room for the employees.



In 1999 additional property to the east next to the river, which housed a restaurant called “Jean’s Café” was purchased. This was demolished to provide more parking for the service customers. During 2000 the decision was made to discontinue the towing that the Hanson’s had been doing since opening in 1980, due to the large service business volume.


In 2013 Todd Hanson bought the business from his father, Lanny, and is excited to continue the family tradition for both current and new customers in the years to come.


Hanson Auto Service provides a no pressure atmosphere in servicing your vehicle, and we do most auto and light truck repairs with the exception of transmission work or major engine overhaul or replacement. The employees have a combined total of over 175 years working in the automotive field and strive to make sure your experience at Hanson's Auto Service will make you want to come back for all your automotive needs.


We can supply your vehicle with the repair work to make your vehicle hit the 100,000, 200,000, or even 300,000 mile mark on your speedometer. We have many happy customers by giving them an honest appraisal of their problems or issues related to their vehicles.
