Happy Birthing Day Doula Services

Becoming a mother is life changing.

After giving birth to my first child, it became clear to me that every woman deserves the same empowering experience I had. Over the years, this passion grew and is what motivated me to begin my doula practice.

Having been a doula for many years now (DONA certified since 1998), I have attended hundreds of births in various settings including hospitals, birthing centers and homes. The basis of all positive birth experiences I have had the privilege to attend, is that a woman feels continuously supported and nurtured, has the information to make good decisions, and most importantly trusts her body throughout the birth process.

My role as a doula is to help the mom realize that birth is a natural, normal process and to support the mom to achieve the birth she envisions.

The time spent prenatally with my birthing couples enables me to develop a special bond with them prior to labor. This in turn can provide the birthing mother with a sense of peace and a feeling of safety, so she can be more relaxed both physically and mentally throughout labor.

My goal is to help mothers and their partner develop confidence in themselves and in the birth process, and inform them of their options so that they can have a positive birth experience.

My role is never to take the place of the birth partner, but to complement and enhance the support already being provided. My goal is to create a birthing team in which both birthing mother and partner feel more at ease and in turn the birth partner can tend to the birthing mom in a way he or she feels comfortable.

What to expect from my Labor Support Services:
-Unlimited telephone or e-mail support throughout your pregnancy
-Two prenatal appointments
-24-hour on-call availability surrounding your due date
-Telephone support during early labor
-My presence and support during your labor and birth
-Photography once the baby is born
-Assistance with initial breastfeeding after the birth
-One postpartum visit
