The antique redwood cabins at Happy Holler were just restored and are now for lease, making for an ideal vacation retreat! Built in 1921, our lodges are nestled in the rolling hills of Palomar Mountain, about 1.5 hours from downtown San Diego, California. The Happy Holler grounds include a common area with a main chalet and three smaller sleeper cabins for rent. Our unique setup can host groups of up to 14. Whether you rent one or all four cabins, you will never be sharing our private 2 acres with any other group. The atmosphere is relaxing, the activities never ending.
Palomar Mountain was formerly occupied by the Luiseño Indians who maintained seasonal villages, hunted game and gathered seed crops here on the slopes of Palomar Mountain. The Spaniards colonized it in the late 19th century and named it "Palomar" (or "place of the pigeons" in Spanish) in reference to the thousands of band-tailed pigeons that nested in the area.
Today, Palomar Mountain is a nature paradise, with a lively fauna covered with pine, fir and cedar trees. 5,000 feet above sea level, the evenings are cool even during the summer. A number of vista points offer spectacular panoramic views both westerly toward the ocean and inland toward the desert.
