THE STORY BEHIND “HARLOW’S CAFÉ”

On March 1, 1980 my dad took over the restaurant that you sit in today. He was looking for a restaurant in the Phoenix area and came across this restaurant named “May West.” It was not a big place, but very busy, yet cozy— that is why he bought the business.

My father, being in the restaurant business for most of his life, made the best changes. For instance, he made better quality foods for a fair price, “not cheap,” and always had a very friendly staff.

In January of 1991, I, “the son,” bought the restaurant from my father to continue the family business. Still to this day my sister is the general manager, and what a great job she does. My wife, kids, nieces, and myself still operate the restaurant to our appreciated customers’ satisfaction.

We have had the same chef in our kitchen since 1984, and we are proud to have him and his family members work for our family for many, many years.

Harlow’s is a place where all walks of life come to eat, drink, and talk about what happened in town last night—or just come in to listen to all the stories from everyone else.

So if it is your first time coming in, or if you have been coming here for three generations, my family rules are: come in, relax, and enjoy the great food, drinks, and service. Respect the house rules and you will find yourself in a better place, just like Mom’s home.
