Hello All!
When it comes to homemade things -I can't seem to resist. Luckily, my grandpa has a knick for such a craft. In his old "Hillbilly Heaven" barn, my grandpa, Harold Olson goes to work surrounded by hundreds of wooden crates, handcrafted by him! Crates big and small, for an assortment of different things, he does it all. Not only does he have a community of regular buyers, he also sells crates at the farmers market and to our local McGough's.
When Phil and I first moved into our home, we couldn't really afford to buy a bunch of new furniture -but with a little research on pinterest, found the idea of crate decor. These wooden crates, seemingly simple, give such character and serve as great organization for odds and ends, clothing and much more in our tiny cabin on bass lake.
I couldn't just sit and admire my grandpas work without sharing his skill with you! He makes everything in his barn on the west side of traverse city, and has been in the same spot for over 20 years.
And yes, he is certainly in hillbilly heaven. With a barn, a few chickens and ducks, his home is about as country as you can get!
On this page you'll find pictures of my good old Grandpa, and the different size crates he crafts, along with pictures of different ways I use the crates in my own home!
We are hoping to hear from all of you to see how you use Harold Olson Crates as well!
