Hartsfield Gaits would like to welcome you to the amazing world of horses. Whether you are an experienced rider, a novice rider, or a “mid-life” rider returning to the world of horses, we are this is a great place for you and your horse to call home. Located just outside of Wake Forest and close to North Raleigh, we are easy to get to from urban locations, yet we are a world away. Hartsfield Gaits is on the National Registry of Historic Places, and is that place you go to when you need to unwind and re-center.

We specialize in gaited horses, but we welcome all horse breeds and disciplines. Our main focus is on people who love their horses and want to become a “student of the horse”. We offer lessons, horse training and clinics to help form the horse/human bond. The barn focus is on natural horsemanship and sound training practices.

We offer stall and pasture board, and personalized, loving care. We will truly treat your horse as we do our own. The farm has an arena, a round pen and trails. We are home to both trail riders and trail/show riders, and we are very active in all horse activities.

We believe that it is true that the horses will teach you, but at Hartsfield Gaits, we also offer our boarders riding lessons, horse training, and clinicians to build the relationship.

At Hartsfield Gaits, we consider all the horses as family and our boarding services as “concierge” services. We are on-site to meet the vet, chiropractor and the farrier for you so that you can go about your day knowing that your horse’s needs are handled. We provide quality grain and hay twice a day, and move stall-board horses in and out to pasture. We watch for weather and act accordingly. Supplements are gladly given, as we are obsessive about our horse’s health. Shots, coggins and worming are all done on a regular schedule.

We provide an on-site trainer for both you and your horse, and if you have a personal trainer who is off-site, that can be accommodated at the farm as well.

Hartsfield Gaits also brings in clinicians on a monthly basis who are well-known in their field/discipline. We have offered clinics from showing in rail classes to dressage to confidence building to versatility and more.

Our boarders also have the benefit of a supportive, peaceful place to be – we all are passionate about our horses and help each other as we learn how to have the best relationship that we can with our horses. We also are active trailering and doing horse-centered activities.

Both stall and pasture board horses receive the same dedicated care. There is tack storage on-site.

Stall board includes:

12’ x 12’ matted stalls
A window in each stall
Stalls cleaned daily
Hay/grain twice a day (provided)
Fresh water throughout the day
Medications/supplements given
Turn-out in a day paddock
$395/Month

Pasture board includes:

Group or individual pasture
Hay/grain twice a day (provided)
Fresh water checked daily
Medications/supplements given

Training Available:

We are proud to have trail trainer Leslie Weslaski as a part of our barn family. She specializes in training safe, sound trail horses using Natural Horsemanship. With over 30 years' experience, she comes to us from Tucson, AZ where she had her own training business, was a wrangler for a working ranch and showed and started western pleasure horses. she has a real gift for understanding the horse language and the horse/human bond. With a gentle spirit and a fair method of training, she has helped many horses and their humans become the partners that they had hoped to be.

The basis of all of Leslie's training is building trust and confidence between you and your horse. If you feel that your confidence has been derailed, due to circumstances or injuries, please don't give up. Bring your dream back alive in a peaceful, caring environment.
Lesson items can include:

Groundwork, connection, confidence building, responsiveness to leg and rein aids, trail obstacles, communication, horsemanship and/or any horse/rider need.
- Full board training with your horse ridden 4x week plus owner lessons. $800/month
- Individual lessons and problem solving. $40/lesson
- Horse personality and behavioral assessment. $50 at Hartsfield Gaits
- Finding the perfect horse partner. $75 plus travel, if required
