Harvard's Center for African Studies, a U.S. Department of Education-named National Resource Center, is the umbrella organization at Harvard for all things Africa. The Center serves as an intellectual hub, connecting students, faculty, and the wider Africanist community. Since the Committee’s mission is to advance knowledge and understanding of Africa, in addition to supporting Africa-related courses, the Committee on African Studies sponsors: the African Studies Workshop, research and travel to sub-Saharan Africa for faculty and students, lectures, conferences, and African musical performances.
