Hawaii Urban Training

We bring the gym to the streets!

Hawaii Urban Training (HUT) is a community based health and high intensity fitness group for adults, based off the Busan Urban Training (BUT) model. The group’s main three focus areas are (1) to develop and provide free fitness classes and basic dietary advice to the community in which it is located, (2) promote connectivity through active group participation and intellectual contribution, and (3) develop and train individual group members to instruct and expand HUT services. HUT goal is to build a sense of ownership and direction with their personal and community health and wellness. Depending on the instructors availability HUT will hold multiple sessions throughout the week or month. HUT is a completely self-sustainable group/program, which depends completely on volunteer services from fitness and health expert members within the community. HUT tends to be outdoors and utilizes household tools or the environment to help facilitate workouts sessions. Participants are required to go online and sign into each session before the day of the event and arrive on time. Group promotion is supported, though not required by participants.

1. Show up on time and ready to give it your all!


Scottie Hoang and Dharma Shay started this effective structure to support health sustainability, connectivity, and fitness in Busan, South Korea. Only after 5 months in the UT program took off.
