Healing People Of Poverty

Hello, my name is Kerrainn Crudup and I have a dream just like Martin Luther King Junior had… that all people of poverty can free themselves through music. As we all know there has been a lot of street violence and deaths lately. I believe this is occurring due to a lack of stability. I plan to build a safe haven where people can come visit and express themselves through music. We shall agree with MLK Jr. When he quotes “Beautiful music is the art of the prophets that can calm the agitation of the soul; it is one of the most magnificent and delightful presents God has given us.” Also we shall agree with Jimi Hendrix when he quotes “music doesn’t lie. If there is something to be changed in this world, then it can only happen through music.” I strongly believe in the above quotes.
I have designed a resource for the people of poverty to allow them to sign up for two hours of free studio time, where they can express themselves through music. But, in order to gain the free studio session, I require that the people sign up for one of my skills classes. Each day for two hours I will be offering a skills workshop.I feel with obtaining the knowledge of these skills, people will thrive on their own. I want to lift the financial burden on young adults and teens that don’t have the financial means to go to the studio and or pay for all of the stuff that comes with making music. This will have a really big impact on de-escalating violence and drug dealing in the urban community. When I was in high school nobody taught me how to balance a check book or simply how to survive on my own. Growing up in and out of foster care, I yearned for a place to relax and get away from the danger and havoc of the streets. By creating my center (H.P.O.P) will allow the people an opportunity to take a break from the streets. This will help people function in the world with a sense of stability. Stress will be lifted off of their shoulders by being able to gain skills and trade knowledge offered in my center. I hope to inspire the world peace, city by city, person by person… with Healing People of Poverty through music.
