More about Heartland Christian Church

What We Believe...

About God:
God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God. (Genesis 1:1,26,27, 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Matt. 28:19; 1 Pet. 1:2; 2 Cor. 13:14)

About Christ Jesus:
Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He rose from the dead after three days, thus demonstrating His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again one day to judge the living and the dead. (Matt. 1:22,23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-14; 14:10-30; Heb. 4:14,15; I Cor. 15:1-8; Rom. 1:3,4; Acts 1:9-11; I Tim 6:14,15; Titus 2:13; Phil. 2:5-8)

About the Holy Spirit:
The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son of God. He is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation in fellowship with us. He provides those Christians who seek Him: the power for living, the ability to understand spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. (2 Cor. 3:17; John 16:7-13; 14:16,17; Acts 1:8; I Cor. 2:12; 3:16; Eph. 1:13; Gal. 5:25; Eph. 5:18; 2 Cor. 13:14.)

About the Bible:
The Bible is God’s Word to us. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for a Christian’s belief and living. Because it is inspired by God, it is without error. (2 Tim. 3:16; 2 Pet. 1:20,21; 2 Tim. 1:13; Psalms 119:105; 160; Pro. 30:5)

About Man:
People are made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. Every person has worth as a creation of God. But all of us are marred by an attitude and actions of disobedience toward God called “sin.” This attitude and these actions separate people from God. The influence of sin in this world causes many problems in life. (Genesis 1:27; Psalms 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6; Rom. 3:23; Isaiah 59:1-2)

About Salvation:
Salvation is God’s gift to humanity. We can never make up for our sins by any amount of good works or self- improvement. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty. Sins penalty is separation from God. Those who turn to Jesus in faith should turn away from sin, confess their faith, and be baptized into Him. (Rom. 6:23; 10:9; Eph. 2:8,9; Acts 2:38; John 14:6; 1:12; Titus 3:5; Gal. 3:26)

About the Church:
There is only one Church in the Bible. It is of no denomination. It is Christ’s Church and wears His name. Therefore, we are baptized into Christ, and He makes us citizens in the Kingdom of God. The church exists on the earth to share God’s message and love with the lost and to help people live quality lives now and forever. (Matt. 16:18; Eph. 4:4-5; Acts 4:12; 2:47)

About Eternity:
People were created to exist forever. We will exist eternally in one of two places: either separated from God by sin or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be with him eternally is Heaven. (John 3:16; 2:25; 5:11- 13; Rev. 20:15; Matt. 25:44-46)

About the Second Coming:
Before Jesus left the earth He promised to return. Someday Jesus Christ will return to earth and reign forever as King of Kings. The only reason Jesus has not yet returned is that He is patient with people and not willing that any should be lost, for when He returns He comes as King and Judge of the earth. (2 Pet. 3:1-13; Rev. 22:20; 1 Thess. 4:13-18)

About Our Purpose:
Our purpose is stated by Jesus in Matt. 28:19-20. “Make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Our commitment to expand the church is reflected by outreach in every ministry. (1 Tim. 4:2; 2 Tim. 2:2; Matt. 28:19-20)
